Axial Wraith Guide – Upgrades Tips and Tricks - Driveshaft
Stock Driveshafts:
The stock driveshaft that made by the Axial is a completely new style. None of the trucks are like the Axial Wraith, using an all metal CV joint that attaches the plastic in the center section. The joints connect the output of the transmission and the input of the axles using a 3mm cross pin. It is a new style that helps to eliminate the chance of screws coming loose and spinning on the shaft. The new style also runs very smooth at high angles and high RPM’s. You would not need to upgrade this even if you want more power on your wraith. Axial also include a couple of them for spares in case they break or malfunction.
Upgrading the DriveShaft :
The Wraith has a 13.75 inch wheelbase, which makes it different from AX10 or SCX10. The driveshaft of the Wraith would not fit the AX10 or SCX10 or vice versa. It is eventually needed to get the driveshaft upgraded to get more power and strengthen the truck. Getting the aluminum driveshaft is the best as it would make the Wraith extremely strong.
Stock Links
Just like the other stock parts, the suspension links on the RTR Axial Wraith is too soft with the plastics. One major problem people find is the ability to return their original shape after bending. The plastic are soft which makes the Wraith not as tough as you want it to be. It helps beginners to minimize the chance of breakage though.
Upgrading the Links:
Upgrading the linkage is very common for Axial Wraith. Getting aluminum links make it more durable with 3mm rod ends. It helps to strengthen up your Wraith as well as increasing the performance of the Wraith.
Stock Shocks:
The shocks that comes with the RTR Axial Wraith is a standard 4 inch shock. They are not too bad for a RTR truck. However, the spring are very stiff that it would make the truck more bouncy. You would not need to upgrade it, but people usually upgrade this due the hardness of the spring as well as the material that was used in the stock shocks.
Upgrading the shocks:
As we mentioned, the shocks do not need to be replaced right away. However, it is always better to get a set of piggyback shocks to make the Wraith look cooler with more volume capacity for shock oil. You may also soften up the ride by getting some soft springs.
